The aim of this short online course is to raise awareness of the availability and potential uses of telemedicine in clinical settings and to promote the proliferation of practical uses of telemedicine as a clinical and training/supervision tool.

On completion of this course you will have:

  • An appreciation of how telemedicine can contribute to the challenges of the NHS
  • A clear understanding of what telemedicine is
  • Knowledge of the history of telemedicine in the context of the evolution of relevant technologies
  • An understanding of the factors which must be considered when planning the implementation of telemedicine including the security, functionality, governance and pathway issues
  • An insight from a selection of case studies about how telemedicine has been used effectively
