This online course will increase your understanding of the management of diabetes in people who also have dementia, depression or severe mental illness and the impact one condition has on the other.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, however, we recommend that you first complete ‘The Safe Use of Insulin’, ‘The Safe Use of Non-Insulin Therapies’ and ‘The Safe Management of Hypoglycaemia’.

After completing this training you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact diabetes has on the quality of life in someone with dementia, depression or a severe mental illness
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how mental illness progressively impacts on the self-management skills of someone with diabetes
  • Outline the strategies in safe medicines management that can improve patient experience
